To get to Japan, I transferred three times. I did it because the flight tickets were cheap.

Many people speak Cantonese and English. I realized again that English is an important language.
Cantonese and Mandarin are different languages. Cantonese is spoken in Hong Kong and southern China, while Mandarin is more widely spoken in China. My first language is Japanese. I can understand somewhat written Cantonese and Mandarin, but speaking is totally different.
A long time ago, I visited Taiwan to see my friend. To communicate, we spoke English and sometimes wrote in Chinese characters. In Taipei, I was a little surprised that the taxi driver spoke fluent Japanese.
I will have a chance to visit Hong Kong again.
