On the way to Texas, we stopped by New Orleans, Louisiana. We didn’t have enough time, so we only visited the French Quarter area.

The French Quarter was founded by French Canadian naval officer Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville. Between 1762 and 1803, France transferred Louisiana to Spain. After 1803, the Louisiana Purchase transferred to the U.S.

I used to play the piano. Jazz is one of my favorite genres. New Orleans music has its roots in Africa but also the influence of French, Spanish, and Cuban music. Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, New Orleans and Havana were major port cities, and musicians took ferries between both cities to perform. African American music began incorporating Afro-Cuban music.

I like Buena Vista Social Club. Until before the revolution, Cuba was culturally and economically rich.

I want to share another favorite song. The singer is 95 years old. Can you believe it?
