I still remember a male flight attendant. In 2018, I returned from Japan to Florida alone. After a long flight from Tokyo, I arrived at Dallas airport. Soon after, I went to the gate for the next flight. I waited, and suddenly the flight was canceled (to change destination). I asked the airline staff if any flights had seats. The other flight was only one seat available, so I booked it.
I sat in the back-row seat. It was not comfortable. A male flight attendant was next to me. He was off duty. He probably thought I was a tourist from Asia. He asked me where I came from.
My friend is a flight attendant. As usual, I didn’t hesitate to talk to him. He listened to my complaint.
After the beverage service was over, he called a cabin crew to bring two snack boxes. We ate and shared the travel experience. During the conversation, he made me laugh.
After 3 hours, we landed in Florida. Before we got off the plane, he said to me, “I enjoyed talking to you. Thank you. I was on my way back from training. I’ll be promoted to purser soon. Next time we will meet on board!”
I respected his professionalism. He didn’t have to talk to me, but he did. I was satisfied with his service as a customer.
