Well, I don’t like to discuss Politics, Religion and History. Politics and religion are complicated. For example, I was born and raised in a capitalist country, and my husband was born and raised in a communist country. If we discuss which is better, we will not be able to get the right answer. Religion as well, I am a Buddhist, so I go to temple. My husband is a Christian, so he goes to church. Which religion is better? We don’t know. There are many other religions in the world. Like the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM)…↓ etc…
I like History, but it is not always accurate. How did Oda Nobunaga die in 1582? I learned at school that he was forced to commit suicide (seppuku) by his retainer Akechi Mitsuhide in Kyoto (Honnō-ji Incident). However, his body was never found. How do we know the cause of his death?
Instead, I like to discuss something else. The first topic is related to my personal experience.
➀ Does school really need to ask students race and/or ethnicity?
I always have to answer it when I send applications to my kids’ school. America consists of immigrants, so I understand that the question is important. But I hesitate to answer, particularly when I have to choose one.
In Florida, the most common question is, Are you Hispanic/Latino? The choice is YES or NO. I am Japanese and Asian. My husband is Cuban and Hispanic/Latino. Our kids are mixed race, half Non-Hispanic and half Hispanic.
The other question is, what is your race? Their previous school asked that question. The choice was only one from American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, and White.

I have taught my kids how to respect parents, teachers and senior people…
➂ Do you think *K/J/C-pop is a good or bad influence on young people?
*K-pop means South Korean popular music. J-pop means Japanese popular music. C-pop means Chinese popular music. I personally like to listen to K-pop. My daughters like Blackpink.

I choose happiness over success now. I would probably choose success when I was young.
