This time, I would like to write about the “Real Estate Market in Cuba”. I live in America, but my husband is an immigrant from Cuba. So, sometimes I feel like I live in Latin America.
今回は、「キューバの不動産事情」について書きます。私はアメリカに住んでいますが、夫がキューバからの移民です。そのためか、時々ラテンアメリカに住んでいるように感じる時があります。
My husband’s parents and relatives came to America from Cuba between the 1970s and the 1990s. Some of his relatives still live in Cuba, some were born and raised in America, and some immigrated to Canada.
夫の両親や親戚は、1970年代から1990年代にかけてキューバからアメリカへ来ました。親戚の中には、今もキューバに住んでいる人、アメリカで生まれ育った人、カナダへ移住した人もいます。
The other day, my husband was watching YouTube videos in the living room. What he was watching was “Homes for sale in Cuba”. I asked him, “Do you want to buy a house in Cuba?” And he said to me, “No, I don’t want to. But house prices are incredibly expensive! Look at this!” I was interested, so I decided to watch with him.
先日、夫がリビングでYouTubeをみていました。どんなYouTubeビデオをみていたかというと、「キューバで販売中の家」。そう、キューバで売りに出されている家の紹介ビデオです。私はふと気になって夫に、「キューバに不動産が欲しいの？」って聞いてみたところ、「いや、欲しくない。でも、家の値段が凄いんだよ！これみてよ！」と言うので、少し興味が出て一緒にみることにしました。

Well, the exterior design is gorgeous, and the interior design and furniture look expensive.
たしかに家の外観は豪華で、内装や家具も高級だと思います。
My husband said, “The price is something that people living in Cuba could never afford to buy, so the target market would be wealthy foreign people and investors. It’s in a good location and a safe area. I think it will be easy to find buyers…”
夫は、「キューバに住む人達では一生手に入れることが出来ない金額だから、ターゲットは外国人の資産家や投資家。立地も良く、安全なエリアだし、買い手は見つかりやすいんじゃないかと…」と言ってます。
Nowadays, there is more freedom than before, but Cuba is still a communist country. Foreign buyers will not be able to ask for a loan. Therefore, they will only buy in cash.
ただ、以前より自由があるとはいえ、今も共産圏の国。外国人がローンを借りることは、ほぼ出来ないとのこと。となれば、買う時は現金一括購入になります。
In my opinion, “(as common sense) many people would not have a lot of cash…?”
私的な意見としては、「(普通に考えて)こんなにたくさんの現金を持っている人って、そんなにいないのでは…？」と。
We can’t buy it!😵💦

We watched other videos. Many houses are similar prices to houses in Florida…
他のビデオをみましたけど、多くの家が、今のフロリダ州の家の値段と変わりません。

この家は、$170,000(今日の換算レートで、約2600万円)。↓
The house looks quite nice, but it is far from the downtown and not in a safe area.
この家はなかなか良さそうですが、中心部から離れていて、安全なエリアでは無いとのこと。
Today, Real estate in Cuba is very expensive. Even though real estate is getting more expensive, the lives of the foreign people living there are the same as local people. Suddenly electricity and water stop, and most houses don’t have air conditioners and heaters.
今、キューバの不動産は高騰しています。不動産は高くなっても、そこに住む外国人の生活は、地元の人達と同じです。突然、電気や水道が止まることは普通ですし、ほとんどの家にはエアコンやヒーターがありません。
