Jackson is the capital of Mississippi. The city name Jackson is named after General Andrew Jackson. He is well known as a military hero.
At 13, he joined the South Carolina militia. His mother was killed by disease, and older brothers were killed by war. At 14, he was an orphan. His dream was to be a schoolteacher. He became a lawyer instead and later started in politics. In 1829, he became the seventh president of the United States.
We stopped by downtown. The first thing I thought and said was, “Where is everyone?” There were no people on the street.

What an interesting glimpse into Jackson! I always enjoy how travelling can turn a simple stop in a city into a history lesson. The story of Andrew Jackson’s early life is certainly a dramatic one, especially considering the hardships he experienced as a young boy before eventually entering law and politics.
And I can imagine your surprise when you arrived downtown and thought, “Where is everyone?” 😂 A quiet city centre can feel almost surreal, especially when you expect busy streets and lots of people.

Yes, the city was quiet. According to the information, shopping centers and major businesses moved outside the city. The other reason is population decline. The northern areas are more active 🙂
