In what ways do you communicate online?

I was thinking whether I should answer this question or not. Why? Because I am not a digital native = I am not young generation.😅

About 25 years ago, I had a pager (pocket bell in Japanese) and a PHS (Personal Handy-phone System). At that time, many people didn’t have wireless telecommunications devices.

Do you know this?↓

Since 2000, the Internet has become more widespread and online education and social media have become more popular. I remember that I used to say distance education instead of online education.

I am currently working remotely. So, communication with others is always important. Every day I read a lot of e-mails and texts.

I don’t use WhatsApp now, but I used to use it when I needed to communicate with classmates and professors.

I have Facebook and LinkedIn accounts. Long story short, I have multiple social media accounts.

However, I am not an active user. Even though there is a ton of information every day, some of it is fake.

I share this story here. Until about 10 years ago, I was an active Facebook user. I enjoyed writing my post and reading people’s posts.

One day, I noticed that one of my Facebook friends copied my post. She started posting about her lifestyle (copying my lifestyle). Her attitude looked like stalking (or competing with) me.😱 I have just posted my real lifestyle in America since I live very far from my family and friends.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.(Other people’s lives or situations always seem better than your own.)

I learned it. Honestly, I had a hard time then. After I stopped using Facebook, this friend deleted her account. Another friend told me so. I felt betrayed and I still don’t know what she wanted to do. She was an old classmate.😔

I probably will link this website with Facebook and/or the other social media later.
