This week, I bought an instant camera. My original plan was to buy a new camera, but my daughter wanted a Polaroid-style camera for her birthday gift. We talked and decided to buy Fujifilm’s Instax Mini 12. According to the SNS, it is popular among Japanese teens.
The first Polaroid camera was invented by Edwin H. Land. He sold widely in 1948. The camera soon became a household staple, and families documented their special days and every moment.
During the 1970s, Kodak began producing its own instant cameras. The Japanese company Fujifilm wanted to expand the business and released the first instant film in 1981. The first Instax line launched in 1998.
The original Polaroid Corporation went bankrupt in 2001, but Fujifilm is still producing the Instax series.
I didn’t have a Polaroid camera when I was young, but I used to have instant cameras until the early 2000s.
Instant cameras are convenient. Fujifilm’s Instax Mini 12 prints immediately after taking photos.
