What’s a book you think deserves a sequel?

Do you know the story of The Gift of the Magi?

A young couple wants to buy Christmas gifts secretly for each other. But they have only a small amount of money. Della has beautiful long hair. She sold hair to buy a platinum fob chain for her husband’s watch. Jim loves Della’s beautiful hair. He sold his watch to buy her expensive comb. They show what they bought and realize how far they have gone to show each other their love and how invaluable it truly is.

When I was a child, I read in Japanese. The Japanese version ended the story here. Therefore, I don’t know the original story. The original story was written by American writer O. Henry and published in 1905.

Both gifts became temporarily useless. I want to know how the story unfolds next. Do they sell Christmas gifts? Or do they keep them?

How about you? Can you sacrifice something for your loved one?
