Do you know Diego El Cigala? He is a very famous flamenco singer. He was born into a Romani (Gypsy) family in Spain and started singing at a young age. His voice is amazing.

He has often collaborated with other musicians. I like the collaboration with Cuban band Buena Vista Social Club. I think the original band members all passed away. I found a YouTube video that was recorded in 2003.

¿Conoces a Diego El Cigala? Es un cantante de flamenco muy famoso. Nació en una familia romaní en España y empezó a cantar muy joven. Su voz es increíble.

Ha colaborado a menudo con otros músicos. Me gusta la colaboración con el grupo cubano Buena Vista Social Club. Creo que los miembros originales de la banda fallecieron. Encontré un vídeo en YouTube que se grabó en 2003.

I didn’t have a chance to see the Spanish singer’s performance in Japan. But I live with Cubans in Florida now. I know Spanish and Latin American singers well.

    Yes, el Cigala is phenomenal! He now lives in Dominican Republic, a genius of Flamenco.

      The first Spanish-speaking singer I knew was Ricky Martin. Over 20 years ago, my Panamanian friend recommended Ricky Martin for language practice (At that time, I was a Spanish major student in Japan). 

      In Spain, my host family and friends often listened to David Bisbal, Shakira, and Juanes’s songs.

      Last night, I watched Jacob Forever and Daddy Yankee’s MVs.

      Nowadays, we have YouTube and Spotify. We can listen to foreign music more easily than before.🎧🎶😊

        So true Lili. I learned English by learning the songs of the Beatles. Songs are a good way to learn and practice a new language. All the best.
