If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why?

I want to improve memory skills. When I was a 12th grader, I studied over 13 hours a day. Before college entrance exams, whatever I memorized, I forgot right away. Around that time, I had better scores in English, Japanese, and World History. I chose those subjects for standardized tests (like the SAT).

In Japan, each university has different admission requirements. I took an additional English test and wrote a Japanese essay. The last was an interview with professors.

Admitted students were selected in order of highest total scores. I had the lowest score on the English test and the highest score on the Japanese essay among examinees.

Do you want to know what the essay topic was?

-Write your opinion about the difference between capitalism and socialism.

I used to read newspapers every day, so I learned from the daily news. By the way, my major was Spanish, not politics.

I am in my 40s now. The memory is getting worse. I try to write every day. (When I don’t post on WordPress, I post on a Japanese platform.) Or I read blogs and articles.

To keep a good memory,

  • Learn new skills: Try a new language, instrument, or hobby.
  • Play brain games: crosswords, puzzles, and memory card games.
  • Use Senses: When learning, read aloud and write notes.
  • Stay organized: Clean the room and write down the checklist.
  • Manage stress: Go to bed at the same time every night and sleep well.
  • Meditation and enjoying nature: Meditation can help reduce stress, and walking in nature can relax.

According to the article, eating healthy food and socializing are also good.
