Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is a historic home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A Chicago lawyer, Hugh Taylor Birch, purchased this property in 1895 and gave it to his daughter Helen as a wedding gift in 1919. Helen’s husband, Frederic Clay Bartlett, was an artist. Six years later, Helen died from breast cancer.
Frederic remarried to Evelyn Fortune Lilly in 1931. After Frederic died, Evelyn gave the property to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.
