Balboa Park is one of the popular attractions in San Diego, California. It hosts museums and gardens.
In 1868, civic leaders took the 1,400 acres and wanted to create an iconic park. Two years later, the state legislature passed a law stating that the land would be held in trust for a park forever.
San Diego was the second city to dedicate a large urban park after Central Park in New York.
In 1910, the park was named for the Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa (1475-1519) and built in Spanish Colonial-revival style for the Panama–California Exposition.
For many years, new buildings were added to the park.
We visited there at 8pm. Walking after dark was very quiet.
