I like eating. My favorite food is healthy and low calories. I am not young anymore. In 2017, I went on a trip with my dad and stayed in a Ryokan. Unfortunately, the place closed after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The food was amazing. Organic tofu was delicious.
- Dinner

- Breakfast

Ryokan (旅館) is a traditional Japanese inn. Many places offer plans including dinner and breakfast for guests. The dinner generally features the local and seasonal specialties.

The other type of inn is Minshuku (民宿). Some people say that Minshuku is a low-budget version of Ryokan. In my opinion, Minshuku is a smaller and more family-oriented business. Guests share a small bathroom, but they are able to experience warm hospitality by host members.
My favorite food is not only Japanese. The photo is pasta in an Italian restaurant in Florida.

There are many Italian restaurants in Japan.

I like spaghetti with garlic and olive oil. The photo is a Japanese-style Spaghetti Aglio e Olio.

I have yet to try Aglio e Olio; I see that it’s so easy to make but I’m not sure if I should attempt it lol. 😄 Mike
Yes, and delicious! You know I am not good at cooking. 👍😄
This is such a warm and heartfelt reflection on food, memory, and experience. I love how you’ve woven together different places and cultures—from the quiet charm of a Ryokan to the comforting simplicity of pasta—into one gentle narrative.
Your appreciation for healthy, simple food feels very genuine, and the mention of organic tofu and Aglio e Olio adds a lovely sensory touch. There’s also a soft nostalgia in remembering that trip with your father—it gives the piece an emotional depth beyond just food.
Thank you 🙏
Lili, Your Ryokan memories sound magical. It’s simple, tasty perfection.
Thank you. I miss that time. His health condition is not good…I am going to see him soon 🙂
