Dinner Cruise in Hawaii

In Hawaii, I joined a group tour with my parents. I like personal travel. But joining a group tour is sometimes better because I can save time.

We stayed in Hawaii for 4 days. The first day, we arrived at Honolulu airport and went on a dinner cruise at night. I saw a lot of tourists at the port.

On the deck, I talked to a captain. He was fluent in Japanese. He recently visited Japan and ate Inago no tsukudani いなごの佃煮 (rice grasshoppers/locusts boiled in soy sauce and sugar). Wow! I can’t eat it…

The sunset was very beautiful.

What a delightful travel reflection! 🌴 I love how you share both the sights and personal encounters—like chatting with the captain about his trip to Japan. Small cultural details, such as the Inago no tsukudani, make your story vivid and engaging. Your writing captures the excitement of exploring Hawaii while giving a personal touch that readers can enjoy.

Thank you! 😊 To be honest, after arriving at Honolulu Airport, I heard Japanese. Even at supermarkets and restaurants, many people spoke Japanese. In Florida (my current city), I haven’t seen Asians every day. Hawaii and Florida are both territories of the US, but they’re so different.

That’s such an interesting observation! 😊 Hawaii really is a unique blend of cultures, and the strong Japanese influence is visible everywhere—from language to cuisine and customs. Florida, on the other hand, has a very different cultural mix, so it must have felt striking to notice the contrast. Traveling really opens our eyes to these fascinating regional differences!

How was that cruise, my friend?

Hi! Yes, it was fun. My parents enjoyed a lot. But Japan’s economy isn’t currently doing well. When we went to Hawaii, US$1 was about 156 yen. Japanese tourists don’t spend much money compared to the past…😅

  3. I’ve never been to Hawaii, but most of my friends have because we live in the PNW and it’s closer!
