I have been a freelance content writer since 2017. Please understand that my career path is one of many examples.
What does a content writer do?
A content writer is a professional who writes informative and engaging articles to advertise businesses and organizations.
Can I become a freelance content writer with no experience?
Yes! I started with almost no experience as a writer (I had writing experience for travel magazines before, but not a lot). My first language is Japanese. At first, I created my account on Japanese freelance marketplaces in 2016 and started in 2017.

➁ Apply for writing jobs & Gain experience
The next is to apply for writing jobs as much as you can. Most employers will ask you how many years/how much you have writing experience. If you are a beginner, do not ask for a higher rate.
➂ Create a portfolio
I created my portfolio 3 years after I started writing. If you have enough writing experience, you can list your work in the portfolio.

➃ Develop your skills
I advise you to have a specialty if possible. I have expertise in Travel, Food, Culture, Language and Education. There are always a lot of competitors. If you don’t get a writing job, don’t be upset. I don’t know how many times I have been rejected. haha😅
