I am an animal and nature lover.
私は、動物や自然が大好きです。
I used to visit the animal shelter more frequently. Because it was close to my home, and I wanted to give my love to animals. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the facility temporally stopped accepting visitors and later moved to another location.
以前はよく、動物保護施設を訪れていました。家から近かったし、動物達に愛情を与えたかったからです。でも、コロナパンデミックが始まって、その施設は一時的に訪問者の受け入れを中止。後に、別の場所に移転しました。
I like both dogs and cats. Basically, I like all animals except for rats. I had a pug in Japan and have cats in America. Also, I had turtle, rabbit, pond loach (People eat in Japan), goldfish and cockatiel in Japan.
私は犬も猫も好きです。基本的に、ネズミ以外の動物なら全部好きかな。日本ではパグを飼っていましたし、アメリカでは猫を飼っています。他にも、日本ではカメ、ウサギ、ドジョウ（日本では食用)、金魚、オカメインコを飼っていたこともあります。

Now I have 4 cats and 2 parakeets at home. If possible, I want to adopt a new pet this year…

I don’t have much time now, but I have volunteered at educational and cultural organizations. Some American schools and jobs are required to have volunteer (community service) hours.
今はあまり時間がありませんが、以前は教育機関や文化協会(日本の国際交流機関やアメリカの日系ミュージアム)でもボランティアをしていました。アメリカの学校や仕事でも、ボランティア（社会奉仕）の時間が義務付けられているところがあります。

覚えていることがありますが…20年程前は、日本で教員免許を取得するために、ボランティア活動が必要でした。教員免許を取得するための条件として、ボランティア活動と、数週間、自分の専門分野の教育実習をすることが課せられてました。私は特別支援学校と聾学校でボランティアをしましたし、高校で教育実習もしました。その時は、とても忙しかった…だから今でも覚えてます。
I think working for free is not a bad idea…it depends on the job.
無償で働くのも悪くないかと…仕事によりけりかな。
