What major historical events do you remember?

Are you superstitious?

I’m not superstitious. But some numbers are considered unlucky. For example, #4 (shi means death in Japanese), #9 (ku means suffering in Japanese), and #13 (unlucky in many countries).

What about #11 (the 11th)? What happened in the world?

  • December 11, 1941: United States declaration of war on Germany
  • December 11, 1994: First Chechen War
  • September 11, 2000: Tōkai Heavy Rain
  • November 11, 2000: Kaprun disaster
  • September 11, 2001: September 11 attacks
  • August 11, 2009: Shizuoka earthquake
  • March 11, 2011: Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami
  • April 11, 2012: Indian Ocean earthquakes
  • February 11, 2020: WHO officially names coronavirus disease/COVID-19

My friend’s birthday is November 11.

Do you believe in lucky and unlucky numbers?
