Money and the Japanese Economy

What are you most worried about for the future?

My biggest worries about the future are money and the Japanese economy.

I was in Japan until last week. Then, the exchange rate from the US dollar to the Japanese yen was $1.00 =about 156 yen. How about today? $1.00 is almost 160 yen.

I was ok while traveling in Japan because I have resided in America and earned US dollars. But I didn’t think prices in Japan were cheap.

The Japanese population is declining every year. Therefore, the government is accepting foreign workers. I saw several foreign (non-Asian) workers in restaurants and convenience stores. My children attended the local school and had Japanese and non-Japanese friends. Most of their parents had moved/immigrated to Japan from Pakistan, India, Ghana, Brazil, China, South Korea, and other countries.

I realized that Japan is facing a serious population crisis. If there are not enough workers, the country will not develop.

I have four children now, so I have contributed a little to the number of the Japanese population… (^^;)
